keep up with的意思是“跟上”，也就是说，原来是同一水平或速度，别人加快了，你也加快跟上：He started to walk faster and the children had to run to keep up with him.他走的更快了，孩子们得跑步跟上他。Wages are failing to keep up with inflation.工资没能跟上通货膨胀。catch up with的意思是“追上”，也就是说，原来是在后面，你得加快追上：Will Chinese industry ever catch up with American innovations?中国工业会赶上美国的创新吗？
