中文和英文在绝大多数情况下是做不到字字对应的。中文说“没有夜晚”。你想的是，“没有”对应“no”，“夜晚”对应“nights”。但是中文的“没有”用英文可以用不同方式表达，可以用“no”，也可以用“there is not”(即什么东西是不存在的)。“no” ，“there is not”的意思实际上是一样的，就是说什么东西不存在，没有什么东西。它们的差别仅仅在形式上，即“no night”是短语，"there is no night"是句子。the sun never sets也是句子。一个句子和另一个句子间，用and连接。the sun never sets and there is no night。the sun never sets做为句子，加上and所连接的成分必须是另一个句子，这样才对称。所以不能用“no night”这个短语，而要用"there is no night"这个句子。你想用“no night”的话，也是可以的，只要和the sun never sets断开联系，另起一句话就可以。像这样：The sun never sets。 And no night。把短语单独提出来，就成为了一个句子了。。
